The Mexico Jaycees is a civic organization for young adults 21-41 years of age.
In addition to putting on the Mexico Soybean Festival, the Mexico Jaycees are responsible for many other events in Mexico such as the Fat Tuesday Business Lunch, Jaycee Golf Tournament, annual Christmas tree sales, Christmas children’s shopping spree, hosting Business After Hours, and much more. The Jaycees also provide community service in many ways, and donate to local scholarships each year. Additionally, the Jaycees contribute funding to the Wonderland Camp for disabled children and their families. Members also volunteer in many other city activities such as benefit auctions, clean ups, school functions, and parks and recreation events. Individual Development: Throughout the year we have many social activities for members and prospective members. Some past events have included: Cardinals baseball trip, Hermann wine trip, Cinco De Mayo party, Superbowl parties, golf outing, Christmas banquet, and many smaller gatherings. Members have great networking opportunities and develop lifelong friendships through the organization. Leadership Development: This is a great focus of the Jaycee organization. Members have the opportunity to receive leadership training at the local, district and state levels of the Jaycees Organization. Through chairing events and volunteering, members learn to work as a team to accomplish great things! Running for an office is also a good way to improve yourself and become involved in the community. If you’re between the ages of 21-41 and are interested in becoming a Jaycee, membership meetings are at 7:00 PM the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Our meetings are held at the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce located at the corner of Jackson and Jefferson Streets in downtown Mexico, Missouri. Summer meetings are held under the Jaycee Pavilion (behind the Audrain Historical Society) weather permitting. Prospective members are always welcome. For additional membership information, please e-mail [email protected] or you can find the Mexico Jaycees on Facebook. |
